No you do not. There is something called direct access, which means you are able to go to a physical therapist directly. In the State of Michigan you are required to get a referral from your doctor after 21 days to continue with physical therapy. If we feel you need less physical therapy and more coaching/ wellness care this is not something you are required to get a referral. If you require additional physical therapy beyond the 21 days we will need to obtain a referral from the MD to submit your Superbill to insurance.
